WELCOME TO 2026–2027 TRYOUTS !

We're excited to welcome you to another club volleyball season! Below you'll find everything you need to prepare for tryouts, including age group information, the tryout process, what to expect on tryout day, and next steps after evaluations.

USAV AGE CHART

To determine your player's age group for the 2026–2027 season, please refer to the USAV Junior Player Age Definition 2026–2027 (click here).

While the USAV age chart provides official age eligibility based on birthdate, we encourage athletes to attend the tryout that aligns with their upcoming grade level whenever possible. For example, an incoming junior with a July birthday may technically qualify for 16U but should attend the 17U tryout to remain with their academic peers.

NEW!! MIDLAND / ODESSA TRYOUT PROCESS

To make tryouts more accessible for athletes across the Permian Basin, Nitro will host one Day 1 tryout in Midland and one Day 2 tryout in Odessa.

Athletes may attend either location, regardless of where they live, but should not attend both Day 1 and Day 2. Evaluations from both sessions will be combined, and teams will be formed based on athlete skill level, team fit, and overall evaluations—not by city or tryout location.

Athletes selected from either Day 1 or Day 2 will be invited to Day 3 Callbacks and do not need to register again.

TRYOUT DAY INFORMATION

BRIEF PARENT MEETING: A brief parent meeting will be held at the beginning of each tryout session. Attendance is encouraged for families of 11U–15U athletes and is optional for 16U–18U families. Following the meeting, parents and guardians may remain in the designated viewing area or leave and return when the session concludes.

OPEN TRYOUTS ARE BACK! Parents and guardians are welcome to observe tryouts from the designated seating area. To maintain a fair and focused environment, spectators must remain in the viewing area and may not enter the court, interact with athletes, coaches, or evaluators, or provide coaching or signals during tryouts. Photos and video recordings are not permitted. At the conclusion of each session, athletes and spectators should promptly exit the facility so staff can complete evaluations and prepare for the next group. Thank you for helping us provide a positive, distraction-free experience for all athletes.

AFTER TRYOUTS

AFTER DAY 1 & DAY 2

All participants will receive an email no later than three hours after their age group's Day 2 tryout.
•Athletes selected to continue will receive an invitation to Day 3 Callbacks with additional details.
•Athletes not advancing will also receive notification

AFTER DAY 3 (CALLBACKS)
All callback participants will receive an email within 24 hours of their Day 3 tryout.
Players receiving an offer will receive instructions to:
•Complete their Letter of Intent (LOI)
•Submit the required non-refundable deposit
•Accept their roster spot by the stated deadline

If the deadline passes without completion, the offer will expire and roster invitations will be extended to alternate athletes.

Between the email notification and the acceptance deadline, a Nitro representative will also contact your family by phone to introduce themselves, confirm receipt of the offer, and answer any questions.

TRYOUT REGISTRATION POLICY

Please note that all tryout registration fees are non-refundable and cannot be applied toward future registrations. If an athlete does not attend tryouts or chooses to join another club, the registration fee will be forfeited.
